Nurjis Khatoon Jaffri: I did my matriculation from Fauji Foundation School and FSC (pre-medical) from Garrison Postgraduate College for Women, Lahore. Afterwards, I did my BS (Hons) with distinction and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of the Punjab.

Interviewer: How was your experience at World Times Institute (WTI)? And, how much helpful was JWT in your preparation for PMS exam?

Nurjis Khatoon Jaffri: World Times Institute is a rich source of all necessary information regarding current affairs by virtue of its monthly JWT magazine and its social media educational platforms. I used to collect valuable research data from their publications. Also, their daily MCQs updates (on Facebook & Instagram) of different subjects helped me in preparing for the GK paper.

Interviewer: What, in your opinion, is the key to getting through compulsory papers of PMS exam, especially that of General Knowledge?

Nurjis Khatoon Jaffri: My strategy for compulsory papers was quite simple. I used to prepare my own notes using these sources:

My advice for fresh aspirants

Perseverance and consistency is your key to success. Read a lot and keep writing

  1. One locally published book for each subject to develop a basic understanding.
  2. For value addition, I consulted research papers and articles on the internet.

iii. I would advise prospective aspirants to purchase one

JWT Editorial Board recommended book. If you can’t, an alternative is to read reviews or summaries of recommended books for quality references.

These sources helped me prepare quality content for compulsory subjects.

As far as GK is concerned, preparing all past PPSC papers and geography of the World in general, and of Pakistan in particular is the key.

Interviewer: How answers should be written to get maximum marks in the written part of PMS exam?

Nurjis Khatoon Jaffri: It is important to make one’s paper look attractive to fetch maximum marks. This can be done by highlighting important information in your answers, e.g. facts, quotations, statistics, etc. by markers (blue/black) and by underlining those. Also, it is significant to add diagrams, flowcharts and a critical analysis to each answer. Moreover, giving an outline of the contents you are going to discuss in your answers also helps in securing good marks.
