Mr. Muhammad Farooq has been promoted from Deputy Director to Director Agriculture (BS-19). He has been posted as Director, Crop Reporting Service, Agriculture Department, and will assume charge at the Headquarters Office, Lahore.

Mr. Muhammad Farooq is a senior officer in the Government of Punjab’s agriculture service with a long record of public service in agricultural administration. Most recently he has been promoted from the position of Deputy Director to Director Agriculture (BS-19) and assigned to lead the Crop Reporting Service under the Agriculture Department at the Headquarters Office in Lahore

In his new role, Mr. Muhammad Farooq is responsible for overseeing the operational and strategic functions of Crop Reporting Service Punjab. This department plays a key role in collecting, analysing, and publishing accurate data about crop acreage and production across the province. This information supports policy decisions, market planning, and agricultural support programs for farmers

Crop Reporting Service Punjab is tasked with providing timely estimates of cultivated areas and projections of crop yields for major crops in the province, helping ensure agricultural planning is data-driven and responsive to seasonal conditions. The work of this agency has wide implications for food security, agricultural forecasting, and rural economic planning in Pakistan’s most populous province.

Before this promotion, Mr.Muhammad Farooq gained experience in the agriculture department’s administrative ranks, including serving as Deputy Director where he would have been involved in coordinating reporting systems and supervising field units. His experience in government agricultural services reflects his commitment to improving data quality and reporting frameworks, which are critical in modern agricultural governance.

Lahore, as the provincial headquarters, remains one of the most important centers for agricultural planning in Pakistan. From this office, the Crop Reporting Service under Mr. Farooq’s leadership will continue to expand its capacity to collect reliable data, work with field teams across districts, and produce reports that help both government and private stakeholders plan more effectively for crop cycles and resource allocation.
