PIMS Hospital Nursery Fire in Islamabad: 15 Newborns Reported Dead

Islamabad: At least 15 newborn babies were killed after a fire broke out at the nursery of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, according to initial reports. The incident occurred in the nursery associated with the hospital’s gynaecology department.

Reports indicate that 16 newborns were present in the nursery when the fire erupted, with one infant rescued. Initial information suggests that the blaze may have originated from an air-conditioning unit or compressor, although the exact cause will only be established after a formal investigation.
