An awareness walk on conservation and management of fisheries was arranged by the University of Okaraโ€™s Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
At this eve, Prof Dr Muhammad Wajid, Vice Chancellor, said in his special message, โ€œSuch activities are important for awareness in society. There is a dire need of conservation and management of alarmingly depleting fish stocks.โ€
Dr Muhammad Sajjad Sarwar, Director Administration & Coordination at UOโ€™s City Block, talked about the shortage of water resources and degradation of aquatic habitats. Assistant Professor of Zoology, Dr Muhammad Saleem Khan, said that awareness activities regarding conservation of endangered animals were greatly needed in educational institutions.
Dr. Majid Hussain, In-charge Fisheries and Aquaculture Department, advised BS and MPhil students to start their own fish farm business instead of looking for jobs. Miss Nida Ismat, Lecturer Fisheries and Aquaculture, appreciated the efforts of students to arrange more activities of this nature on the campus.
Dr Imrana Amir, an IPFP fellow at the department, proposed students to stop using plastic in their daily routine. Dr Hira Fatima from Wildlife Department advised students to stop wasting water in domestic activities.
