Pakistani authorities have stepped up efforts to give Pakistanis abroad the right to vote and have decided to start the registration process immediately.
A meeting was held in Islamabad on Wednesday, attended by Advisor to Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan and Assistant Special Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari, Chairman NADRA, DGIT Election Commission and Secretary Parliamentary Affairs
The meeting reviewed the voting procedures and facilities of Pakistanis abroad and it was decided that registration could be done through a passport or by NACOP, while the Election Commission and NADRA would jointly launch the registration program.
It was also stated in the meeting that the process of keeping the voting process secret will be decided and all Overseas Pakistanis will be made involved in the electoral process.
The meeting is called again next week for implementation of the decisions.
