Punjab government signs agreement to recycle single-use plastic
The Punjab government has partnered with a private company to recycle single-use plastic under the Chief Minister’s Green Credits Program.
Next month, the private company will use Chinese technology to install locally made devices in four major Lahore universities. These devices will also be placed in the city’s bazaars and markets.
This machine has two boxes; insert a plastic bottle into box A, then click button B after entering your phone number. The machine’s screen will display green credits, which can also be seen with the use of an app.
The chairman of the private company, Gulfam Abid, claims that 500 tons of garbage from plastic bottles are produced every day. Plastic bottles and single-use plastic utensils will be recycled with the use of machines and used to create bricks, sidewalks, and road patching.
He claimed that if 20 one-and-a-half-liter bottles and 40 half-liter bottles are placed in the machine, 1,000 rupees will be paid out in cash right away.
