Jaffer Express attack: Operation underway to rescue hostages, 10 confirmed dead

A passenger train passing through Darra Bolan in Balochistan was attacked by militants on Tuesday, in which 10 people, including the engine driver, were confirmed dead.
Security forces are conducting an operation to rescue the hostages taken by the militants.

According to railway officials, 80 passengers have been released so far and have reached Paniyar railway station, five kilometers from the incident site. The released passengers include 43 men, 26 women and 11 children.Divisional Superintendent Railways Imran Hayat, while talking to News, confirmed 10 deaths. He said that the deceased included the engine driver and nine passengers belonging to the security forces who were going to their native areas on vacation. They were shot dead.Imran Hayat said that some of the militants fled towards the mountains and took 17 hostage passengers with them towards the mountains. While some of the attackers are still holding the train passengers and staff hostage at the scene.
According to the railway controller, the released passengers said that the attackers had made the railway staff and passengers sit together and pointed guns at them.
