Important personality Najamuddin A Sheikh passed away
Pakistan’s prominent diplomat and former Foreign Secretary Najmuddin A. Sheikh has passed away at the age of 85. Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan has confirmed this. Najmuddin A. Sheikh served as Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary from 1994 to 1997. He was a graduate of the University of Sindh and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in the United States.
Former Foreign Secretary Najmuddin served as ambassador to Germany, Canada, the United States and Iran during his distinguished diplomatic career spanning four decades. He was a pioneer of international cooperation, regional stability and human rights.

Najmuddin was a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad and was among the founding members of the Sindh Council of Foreign Relations. The Foreign Office spokesperson paid tribute to the deceased and said, “As Foreign Secretary, he demonstrated leadership vision and strategically shaped foreign policy. His services were highly respected both domestically and internationally.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased. According to the spokesperson, the legacy of the deceased’s service and leadership will remain a beacon for generations to come. Najamuddin A. Sheikh will always be remembered for his exceptional diplomatic skills, integrity and selfless service to Pakistan.
