As Eidul Fitr approaches, demand for fresh currency notes has surged alongside festive shopping. Banks are providing only limited quantities under strict conditions, forcing many people to turn to the open market. In busy commercial areas, vendors are selling fresh notes at inflated prices. A bundle of Rs10 notes is being sold for around Rs1,600 to Rs1,700, while Rs20 notes are priced between Rs2,700 and Rs2,800. Likewise, bundles of Rs50 notes carry a premium of about Rs1,000, and Rs100 notes are being sold at an additional cost of Rs800 to Rs1,000.
