For the first time in the history of Pakistan, the proceedings of the Supreme Court are being broadcast live.
Under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa, the Supreme Court is currently hearing petitions against the Practice and Procedure Act. This momentous event is notable for the fact that it marks the first time the Supreme Court proceedings are being broadcast live.

The full court, consisting of 15 judges of the Supreme Court, is convened to hear the petitions against the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act. The federal government has submitted a written response to the court through the Attorney General, requesting the rejection of the petitions against the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act.

Previously, on April 13, an 8-member bench of the Supreme Court had stayed the implementation of the Practice and Procedure Act. This act deals with the distribution of powers of the Chief Justice in cases of public interest.

According to the Practice and Procedure Act, the decision to take automatic notice will be made by the Chief Justice and a committee consisting of two senior judges.

It’s worth noting that Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, who took oath as the Chief Justice of Pakistan recently, had refused to be part of any constitutional bench until the petitions related to the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act are decided.
