Educational Institutions Closed Amid Security Concerns

Several government and private educational institutions have been closed today due to concerns about public safety and law and order. Authorities have issued precautionary directives in multiple regions, while provincial governments have stepped up security measures.

According to Additional Chief Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed, all government and private educational institutions in Gilgit and Skardu will remain closed for the day. Students, parents, and staff members have been advised to strictly follow official instructions and avoid unnecessary travel.

In Khyber district, the administration has also announced the closure of government schools in the border areas of Landi Kotal tehsil for an indefinite period. Officials stated that the decision was taken to protect students and teachers. A revised plan for reopening schools will be shared once the situation improves.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province for seven days in light of potential security threats and concerns regarding public order. A notification issued by the Punjab Home Department confirms a ban on gatherings, processions, and demonstrations. Authorities say intelligence reports have identified certain gatherings as possible targets. The measures have also been introduced to prevent sectarian tensions and maintain peace.

Under Section 144, public gatherings of four or more individuals are now prohibited throughout Punjab.
