The history of the police in Sahiwal district dates back to the British era. In 1849, the British government formally annexed Punjab and initially established the headquarters of Sahiwal district at Pakpattan Sharif. تفصیلات کےمطابق پولیس تھانہ غازی آباد کو اطلاع موصول ہوئی کہ 3 ڈکیٹ چک نمبر 170 نائن ایل کے قریب ناکہ لگا کر شہریوں سے لوٹ مار کر ہیں جس کی اطلاع ملتے ہی ایس ایچ او تھانہ غازی آباد سب انسپکٹر حسن ممتاز نے ٹیم کے ہمراہ ڈاکوؤں کا تعاقب کرتے ہوئے ڈاکوؤں کو 172 روڈ کے قریب گھیر کر رکنے کا اشارہ کیا جنہوں نے اپنا موٹر سائیکل روک کر پولیس پارٹی پر فائرنگ شروع کر دی جس پر پولیس پارٹی نے بھی حفاظت خود اختیارہ کت تحت اکا دکا ہوائی فائر کیے کچھ دیر بعد فائرنگ کا سلسلہ رکنے پر سرچ آپریشن شروع کیا گیا تو ایک کس ملزم اپنے ساتھیوں کی فائرنگ سے زخمی حالت میں پایا گیا جبکہ اس کے 2 ساتھی اندھیرے کا فائدہ اٹھاتے ہوئے فرار ہوگئے۔ زخمی ملزم کی شناخت غلام عباس کے نام سے ہوئی جو کہ موٹر سائیکل و نقدی چھیننے کے 23 مقدمات میں ملوث ہے جسے برائے علاج معالجہ ہسپتال منتقل کر دیا گیا جبکہ ملزم کے بقیہ ساتھیوں کی گرفتاری کے لیے ٹیمیں تشکیل دے کر چھاپے شروع کر دیے گئے ہیں۔
