Multan: The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Women University Multan, Professor Dr. Shahida Batool, has officially taken charge of her post. Upon her arrival at the university campus, she was warmly welcomed by teachers, officers, employees and heads of different departments.
According to the university spokesperson, faculty members and administrative officers presented bouquets to the new Vice Chancellor and congratulated her on assuming the important responsibility.
Dr. Shahida Batool is a professor in the Department of Psychology and earned her PhD in Applied Psychology from Government College University. She has supervised research work of 17 PhD scholars and more than 150 MPhil and BS students. Many of her students are currently serving as academicians, researchers and professionals across Pakistan.
During the coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Shahida Batool launched the Punjab Mental Health Helpline, an initiative that received appreciation at national and international levels. She is also serving as the Additional Secretary General of the Pakistan Psychology Association.
In recognition of her academic and professional services, she has received several awards, including the HEC Best Researcher Award, Best University Teacher Award, Outstanding Research Thesis Award, Postdoctoral Fellowship Award and Fakhr-e-Qoom Award.
Speaking to teachers and officers after taking charge, Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahida Batool said that Women University Multan would be developed as an exemplary educational institution according to modern academic standards. She said female students would be provided with better opportunities for quality education, research and character building.
She made it clear that merit, discipline, transparency and accountability would be ensured at every level. She added that the cooperation of teachers, officers and employees would help take the university toward further progress.
Dr. Shahida Batool said her first priority is to provide a safe, positive and research-oriented environment where female students can prove their abilities at national and international levels.
Senior teachers and officers also congratulated Dr. Shahida Batool and expressed hope that under her leadership Women University Multan would make further progress in academic, research and administrative fields.
