The Government of Pakistan has officially launched the Prime Minister Electric Bike Scheme 2026, aiming to promote eco-friendly transport and reduce fuel expenses for citizens. The initiative offers subsidized electric bikes and rickshaws under the PAVE program.

According to officials, the government has allocated Rs. 100 billion over five years, with Rs. 9 billion reserved for the current fiscal year to kickstart the program.

Under the scheme:

  • 116,000 electric bikes will be distributed

  • Each bike will receive a subsidy of Rs. 80,000

  • Electric rickshaws will get up to Rs. 400,000 subsidy

CEO of the Engineering Development Board (EDB), Hamad Ali Mansoor, stated that this initiative will make electric bikes Rs. 50,000 to 60,000 cheaper than current market prices.

He also added that users can save up to Rs. 8,000 per month on fuel costs by switching to electric vehicles.

 Eligibility Criteria for Electric Bike Scheme 2026

To apply for the PM Electric Bike Scheme in Pakistan, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a Pakistani citizen

  • Age between 18 to 65 years

  • Must have a valid driving license or learner’s permit

For students:

  • CNIC (or B-Form)

  • Proof of admission from a recognized institution

Required documents:

  • Passport-size photographs

  • Bank account details

The scheme will operate through a fully automated online system, ensuring transparency, fair distribution, and fast processing of applications.

The government plans to distribute:

  • 76,000 electric bikes by June 2026

  • Focus will be on urban and semi-urban areas
